Partisan/ Knitting Factory/ Figure Eight Media at CMJ BOBBY, Warm Ghost, Hundred Visions

Partisan, Knitting Factory Records and Figure Eight Media would like to invite you out to see our bands at CMJ. Hope to see you at one of these events. Give a shout for more info or to say hey.

WARM GHOST
Wed, 10/19, 10:30 pm -  Public Assembly  - FIXED CMJ Party
Thu, 10/20, 3:30pm  - Piano’s  - Tell All Your Friends/I Guess I’m Floating CMJ Party

Duality is also one of the driving forces in Warm Ghost’s amazing debut album on Partisan Records, Narrows. On the surface, that means every pop element (the comet-like chords of “G.T.W.S.,” the climactic, synth-chased choruses of “Myths On Rotting Ships”) is offset by an experimental one - from flourishes of field recordings to splintered blocks of beats and samples that suggest a life of listening to Aphex Twin, Autechre and fringe icons like Fennesz, Cluster and Chris & Cosey. Check out their track

Press for Warm Ghost:
“Narrows is extremely lush and pulsing. It’s imbued with a quality that makes it sound like latter-day David Bowie playing videogames with the current class of indie electronic artists.” - WIRED.

”Chillwave auteur Warm Ghost’s “I Will Return” materializes into fuzzy Microkorg synths and overdriven drum sounds.” - NPR’s “World Cafe the Next 20”

Having just gotten off an East Coast run with Wild Beasts, BOBBY will be joining  Little Scream for a West Coast run in November. BOBBY have garnered praise for their refreshingly unique eponymous debut, released this summer through Partisan Records. The album caught the ear of NPR, who selected BOBBY for their “First Listen” series, noting the album’s air of “calm chaos.” Pitchfork Media commented on the band’s “intriguing marriage of familiar sounds in new setting.”  The band themselves describe their musical confluence as ” a swollen lump of blooming, techno-color spores cast adrift on a warm bed of foam.” And yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like. Austin’s HUNDRED VISIONS make their CMJ debut this year so catch one of these shows. The guitar-driven four-piece channels early Talking Heads, Television and  the NYC protopunk scene - they’re a great, edgy band with a smart lyrical sensibility.  Four guys who are as likely to mention ’70s electronic NYC duo Suicide as artists on the early SST catalog (Husker Du, Minutemen),  HUNDRED VISIONS was recently signed by Figure Eight Management (Deer Tick, Wye Oak). They just released their debut EP, Last Cab from Tunis, both digitally and on vinyl. BOBBY - Video Premiere Today on NPR “First Watch”

BOBBY

Premiering a new video and version of their track

“It’s Dead Outside” today on NPR’s “First Watch”

Catch BOBBY on tour with Wild Beasts

New York, NY - September 2, 2011BOBBY has released a new video of the band performing a different version of their track “It’s Dead Outside.”  You can view it today on NPR’s “First Watch” here: http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2011/09/02/140122771/first-watch-bobby-its-dead-outside.  NPR’s Robin Hilton describes this version as possessing “ a spare and gauzy mix of ethereal folk and rock, rooted in spacious, radiant plumes of sonic bliss.” The track was recorded at Montague House, the band’s remote living quarters in rural Massachusetts where they’ve spent the past year, and reflects the members’ conflicted feelings about the house and living in relative isolation. Says BOBBY songwriter Tom Greenberg, “it’s probably the most honest performance I’ve watched of our band since BOBBY started.”

BOBBY has been invited to join Wild Beasts on tour in late September, where they’ll be performing songs from their refreshingly unique eponymous debut, released this summer through Partisan Records.  The band themselves describe their musical confluence as “a swollen lump of blooming, techno-color spores cast adrift on a warm bed of foam.”
