New York, NY - January 3, 2012: Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside, who’ve been building a word-of-mouth buzz since the release of their acclaimed Partisan Records debut, Dirty Radio, will be featured on NPR’s World Cafe today, Tuesday, January 3.  World Cafe, with host David Dye, can be heard on over 200 stations nationwide and airs daily between 2 to 4 pm EST. Stream the show live at http://www.xpn.org/music-artist/xpn-stream.  Click here for a list of local affiliates and air times.  Later in the day of broadcast, the audio will be available on the NPR website here.

2011 was a big year for Sallie Ford and the band, with breakthrough performances at Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Fest, Trans Musicales in France and more. They made their late-night television debut on Late Night with David Letterman, where they won over everyone, and their uptempo, rockin’ version of “Sleigh Bells” could be heard on Target’s national TV campaign throughout the holiday season. They premiered videos on Rolling Stone online and IFC.com, and recorded several sessions for public radio.

Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside have also been popping up on many year-end best lists, including USA Today Pop Candy’s “100 People of 2011” and Paste Magazine’s “20 Best New Bands of 2011.”  Paste wrote: “Rather than simply imitating her diverse influences, Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside decided to take a little bit of Bessie Smith and mix it with a dash of Tom Waits. The result is a delicious goulash of rockabilly and blues with just enough punk attitude to separate Ford’s sound from all the other homage-rock bands out there.”

Live, Sallie’s voice is an instrument capable of conveying raw emotion and nuanced artistry in the same breath. She’s a belter and a unique new talent who’s here to stay!
